Ex Oriente Lux was BB3 and Grata Persona was 2nd in Junior Class with CQ.

 

17.12.

Helsinki INT, Winner 2005, judge Mr. Jeff Horswell, GB

Fortunae Filius won Open Dogs and was BD4 and Ex Composito was 4th with Excellent out of  ten Champion males. Grata Persona was 4th in big Junior Class with Excellent,  Ad Astra won Champion Class and was BB3 with resCacib, Ex Bona Fide was 2nd in Champion Class with Excellent but our wild and lively Princess Femina Floreat got what she was after – new title: Finnish Winner 2005! She was BOS with CACIB & CC. Breeder's Group was BOB and made the first cut out of over 100 breeders groups.

Helsinki INT, Nordic Winner 2005, judge Ms. Leila Kärkäs, FI

Grosso Modo was 2nd in Junior Class with Excellent, Donum Regium and Ex Composito both got Excellent in Champion Class and Donum Regium was 4th. Grata Persona did a nice job again by winning the Junior Class and the title Nordic Junior Winner 2005 & BB2 with CC, Femina Floreat won Intermediate Class with Excellent and Ex Bona Fide took over a new title for herself – Nordic Winner 2005 – as well BOS & CACIB. Well done everyone!

Jyväskylä INT, judge Mr. Arne Foss, N 

Fortunae Filius won again Open Dogs and was BD4 with resCACIB, Ex Composito won Champion Males and was BD3 with CACIB, Warum Nicht was 3rd in Champion Class with Excellent. We had three girls with us this time and they all made it to the TOP 3, Grata Persona was shown for the first time in official classes and she won Junior Class and was placed 3rd in bitches with resCC, Femina Floreat won Intermediate Class and ended up to the 2nd place with CC & ResCACIB. The gold medallist of  that day was again Ex Bona Fide with BB1 & CACIB and BOS. Breeder's Group was BOB and BIS-2! Congratulations everyone!

 

20.11. Carpe Diem gave birth to six beautiful puppies, 2 boys and 4 girls.

Canada, judge Mr. R.W. Taylor, CAN

We have got a brand new Canadian Champion! Generis Sui finished his title with style - Brando achieved his Canadian Championship in 9 days of showing. He was professionally handled by Simone Mullin, Beaubri Basenjis -  thank you Simone and congratulations everyone involved!

 

26.11. Finnish Sight Hound Club's 50th Anniversary Meeting

Kennel Sternhimmels was awarded the Trophy for the Best Basenji Breeder in Finland.

Grosso Modo was 2nd in Junior Class and BD2 with resCC and Exempli Gratia was 2nd in Open Bitches with Excellent and my very own Grand Old Lady Liebe Lenore was BB3 and BOB Veteran.

On Sunday the judge came from Italy and Grosso Modo was 2nd in Junior Class and BD2 with resCC and Exempli Gratia won Open Class and was placed BB3, Liebe Lenore was BOB Veteran.

 

1.10. Oulu INT, judge Mrs Kari Engh, N

Gradu Pleno was shown for the first time in Official Classes and he went 2nd in Junior Class and later BD4 – what a nice start! Fortunae Filius won Open Dogs and ended up BD2 with CACIB & resCC and our gentleman Wer Da was playing on his homefield and won Champion Males and was placed BD3 with resCACIB. But the sweet winner of the day was our charming little princess Ex Bona Fide by winning Champion Bitches and BOB with CACIB and later on BIG-4. Femina Floreat got Excellent in Open Class. Breeder's Group was BOB and later BIS-2! That was such a nice way to spend a birthday! Congratulations everyone!

Ex Composito was BD2 with resCACIB!

Carpe Diem won her agility run with result +5. This was Aida's last agility competition before her maternity leave. Now she's going to concentrate on her new challenges (puppies!) for the next 3 months and make a come back to agility fields in the spring - perhaps accompanied by her training buddy Nala...

Fortunae Filius won again Open Dogs with resCC. Ex Composito was BD4. His sister Ex Bona Fide was BB4. Lovely Femina Floreat had again a great day, she was BOS with CC and CACIB. Her sister Festina Lente won Open Bitches with resCC. Breeder's Group was BOB! Congratulations everybody!

 

10.9. Porvoo, judge Mr Harry O'Donoghue, IRL

Young and brave Fortunae Filius won Open Dogs and went BD3 with CC. His sister Femina Floreat was this time BB2 with resCC.

 

4.9. Vantaa, judge Mrs Gillian McDowell, IRL

Fortunae Filius won Open Dogs and was BD3 with resCC. Ex Composito won Champion Dogs and went BD2. His sweet sister Ex Bona Fide also won Champion Class and was BB2. Femina Floreat ruled again, she was BOB with CC! Manda Meerkatze was 2nd in Veteran Class with Excellent and Breeder's Group went all the way BIS-1! Congratulations!

On the same day Quinta Essentia was 5th with CQ in Lure Coursing in Mikkeli.

 

3.-4.9. Helsinki, agility

Another weekend full of agility action for Carpe Diem and Lari. Saturday's first run was disqualified but in the second one Aida placed 2/11 with +10 faults. On Sunday Aida made a clean run beating the target time with 6,59 secs and placing 2/11. As this was her 3rd clean run in medi 1 class, she got a CC and competed already the same day for the first time in medi 2 class with 0 faults from the track but missing the target time with 8,87 secs. Anyway, a nice start for medi 2, and surely there are more clean runs to come! Congratulations Lari & Anni!

28.8. Tallinn INT, judge Mrs Linda Jürgens, EST

Director Cantus got it all, he was BOB with CC and CACIB. He finished his International and Estonian Champion titles at the same time! Femina Floreat was BOS with CC and CACIB. Congratulations both of you!

Valkeakoski, agility

Carpe Diem was conquering the agility fields again, this time with her co-owner Anni. Aida had two nice runs. The first run was very difficult and only 2 dogs out of 53 made a clean run Aida being the other one! She naturally won the medi 1 class. In the second run Aida got +5 faults from the wave poles but placed 4/11.

 

27.8. Kouvola, judge Mrs Riitta Lahtovaara

Grosso Modo had again a fine day, he was BOB with CC! Grand Old Lady Liebe Lenore showed to younger ladies how to do it, she was BOS and BOB Veteran. Festina Lente was BB4 with resCC and Breeder's Group BOB. Many congratulations to everybody!

 

21.8. Hämeenlinna INT, judge Mr Unto Timonen

Fortunae Filius was BD3 with resCC and Ex Composito was BD4. Femina Floreat was BB3 with CC. The Queen of the Day was Ex Bona Fide with BOB and CACIB! Breeder's Group was BOB. Warmest congratulations all of you!

 

14.8. Aura, judge Mrs Riitta Lahtovaara

Fortunae Filius won Open Class with resCC and Reineke Fuchs was BD3. Star of the Pack was today Director Cantus, who was BOB and BIG4! Festina Lente was BOS with CC and Ex Bona Fide BB2. Breeder's Group was BOB and BIS2! Congratulations everyone!


On the same day in Sweden Ex Oriente Lux was BB2 under Mr Rainer Vuorinen.

Our F-puppies had a great day! Fortunae Filius was BOB with CC and sister Femina Floreat BOS with CC. Ex Composito won Champion Dogs and he went BD2. Breeder's Group was BOB and BIS1!

Grosso Modo hit the Jackpot by being BOB with CC and later on BIG1. Not bad at all for the 9,5 month old youngster! Femina Floreat also had a fine day, she was BOS with CC. Liebe Lenore was BB2 and BOB Veteran. Congratulations everybody!

Grosso Modo was BD2 with resCC, Femina Floreat was BB2 with CACIB and resCC. Liebe Lenore was BB4 and BOB Veteran.

Ex Bona Fide was 2nd in Champion Class with Excellent.

 

24.7. Finnish Basenji Speciality, judge Mrs Sandra Bridges, USA

Grosso Modo was shown for the first time in Official Classes and he went 2nd in Junior Class with resCC. Fortunae Filius was 4th in Open Class with Excellent. Ex Composito and Summa Summarum both got Excellents in Champion Class. Femina Floreat got Excellent in Intermediate Class, Ad Astra was 3rd in Champion Class with Excellent. Ex Bona Fide and Manda Meerkatze got Excellents, too. Our tricolours had an excellent day, O Doch Osman won Veteran Dogs and went BOS Veteran, Liebe Lenore was BB4 and BIS Veteran and her lovely daughter Bene Benedicta was BB2 and Best Tricolour. Her easy gait was noticed by the judge and she was also Best Mover!

23.7. Vantaa, judge Mrs Tuula Savolainen

Summa Summarum was 3rd in Champion Class with Excellent. Lovely Manda Meerkatze was BOB Veteran. The unbeatable Star of the Day was young Femina Floreat, she was not only BOB with CC but BIG1, too! Warmest Congratulations!

 

17.7. Nivala INT 17.7., judge Mrs Marja Talvitie

After a long journey up north we had the hottest day of the summer in Nivala! We had a true celebration day, first Summa Summarum went BOS with CACIB and he gained his International Champion Title! Then our ladies got everything, Ex Bona Fide was BOB with CACIB, her sister Ex Oriente Lux was BB2 with res CACIB and finally my very own Liebe Lenore was BB3 and BOB Veteran and BIS 3 Veteran. Also Breeder's Group was BOB. Congratulations guys!

 

15.-17.7. Kokkola, agility
Carpe Diem and Lari made a trip to the west coast and participated in KLAG agility tournament (5 runs). The weather was not the most suitable for basenjis as it was raining quite heavily the whole weekend. Anyhow Aida took her first clean run beating the target time with 6,10 seconds!

Ypäjä, judge Mr Jarmo Vuorinen

Our foreign guests had a great day! Summa Summarum was BOS and our Swedish Princess Ex Oriente Lux was BOB with CC. She is now Finnish Champion and in the end of the day she went BIG2 despite thunder and lightning! Ad Astra was BB3. Congratulations everybody!

Gradu Pleno was 2nd in Puppy Class with HP. Summa Summarum won Champion Dogs and went BD3. Exempli Gratia won Open Bitches and went BB3 with CC and her sister Ex Bona Fide was 3rd in Champion Class with Excellent.
 

Quinta Essentia was 5th with CQ in Tammela INT Lure Coursing Competition.

Ristiina, judge Mrs Eli Marie Klepp, Norway

Grosso Modo was again BOB Puppy and Summa Summarum started his Finnish show career with great style: he was BOB with CC, got his Finnish Champion Title and finally went BIG-3! Well done, Summa! Festina Lente won the Open Class and went BB2 with resCC. Congratulations all of you!

On the same day in Tammela SVKL specialty Ex Composito was BOS! Gradu Pleno was 2nd in Puppy Class with HP. Ad Astra was BB4 and Ex Bona Fide 4th in Champion Bitches with Excellent. Judge was Mrs Margaret Martin from Ireland.

Young Gradu Pleno was BOB Puppy once again! Congratulations!

 

2.-3.7. Visby INT, judge Mrs Tina Permo, SWE

We started our summer holiday in beautiful Visby. Helena, Summa and little Jerry were travelling with us. Summa Summarum had a great start, he was BD2 with CC and CACIB and became Swedish Champion! Ex Bona Fide was BOB with CC and CACIB and she gained her International Champion title as well as the title of Swedish Champion. She went later on BIG-5! So we had a Triple Champion Party in the evening!

Next day the judge was Mr Boo Lundström from Sweden and great success again! Summa Summarum was BOS and Ex Bona Fide BOB again, congratulations!
 

In Swedish Speciality judge was Mr Christian Jouanchicot from France. Ad Astra was 2nd and Ex Oriente Lux 3rd in Champion Class with CQ.

Saarijärvi, judge Mrs Soile Bister

We had an awesome day in Saarijärvi! Grosso Modo was again BOB Puppy and handsome Ex Composito BOS. His father Warum Nicht was BD2. Liebe Lenore was BB3 and BOB Veteran. And sun was shining brightest to young Femina Floreat, she was BOB with CC and finally BIG-2! Breeder's Group was again BOB. Congratulations!

Kotka, judge Mr Göran Bodegård, SWE

Sweet Gaudete Igitur was shown for the first time and he was 2nd in Puppy Class with Prize of Honour. Fortunae Filius was BD2 with resCC. His sister Festina Lente really had her day, she went BOB with CC and finally BIG-2! Ex Bona Fide won Champion Bitches and she was BB2. Breeder's Group was BOB and that was not all, it was finally BIS-1! Congratulations everybody!

Närpiö, judge Mrs Ing-Marie Hagelin, SWE

Grosso Modo started his show career very nicely, he was BOB Puppy. Fons Et Origo was shown for the second time, and he won his second CC with BOB and BIG-4! Causa Vera was BOS this time. Congratulations!

Our promising youngsters had a nice day again, Gradu Pleno was BOB Puppy and sister Grata Persona BOS Puppy. Ex Composito continued his good work, he was again BOB! His pretty sister Extraordinaria won Champion Bitches and was BB2. Liebe Lenore was 2nd in Veteran Class with Excellent. Congratulations all of you!

 

7.6. Besides agility Ex Bona Fide has been training obedience with Anni. Today she proved her skills by passing Canine Good Citizen test. What a good girl Nala!

Rauma, judge Mr Esko Nummijärvi

Young Fons Et Origo was shown for the first time ever and he was BOS with CC! Causa Vera was shown for the third time in her life and she got her third CC and Finnish Champion Title, awesome! She went finally BIG-3, congratulations! Our grand old lady Liebe Lenore was BB2 and BOB Veteran.
 

On the same day Carpe Diem took part in Stadi Games agility competition in Helsinki with her handler Lari. She had two runs with nice results: in the first one she got +5 faults and placed 7/16 and in the second one +11,86 faults with placement 5/16.

Tervakoski, judge Mrs Annette Bystrup, DK

What a great day we had! Gradu Pleno was again BOB Puppy and his sister Grata Persona BOS Puppy. Fortunae Filius was BD3 with resCC and the king of the day was Ex Composito with BOB and BIG-2! His sister Extraordinaria had a fine day too, she was BOS with CC and she is now Finnish Champion! Congratulations! Breeder's Group was again BOB.
 

On the same day in USA Generis Sui was Winners Dogs and Best of Winners with 3 points under judge Lee Canalizo. Congratulations!

On Sunday in Hamina little Geminus Castor was shown for the very first time and he was BOB Puppy. Ex Composito won Champion Class and went BD2 with resCACIB. Fortunae Filius was BD4 with resCC and his sister Femina Floreat was BB2 with CC and resCACIB. Ex Bona Fide was BB3 and Liebe Lenore BOB veteran. Breeder's Group was BOB and finally BIS2!

 

21.5. Helsinki INT, judge Mrs Tuula Savolainen

Our puppies started the day very nicely: Gradu Pleno was BOB Puppy and sister Grata Persona BOS Puppy. Ex Composito won the Open Dogs and went BD2 with CC and resCACIB and he is now Finnish Champion! Our ladies had an excellent day, too. Ex Bona Fide won Champion Bitches and went BB2 with resCACIB and our young Princess Femina Floreat was BB1 with CC and CACIB and she went all the way BOB! Congratulations everybody! Breeder's Group was also BOB!

 

14.5. Caeli Regina had a great day in the field, she won the Suomi Cup and can now proudly call herself CVM-05! Congratulations!

April
24.4.

Lahti INT, judge Mr Simon Parsons, GB

Fortunae Filius won Junior Dogs with Excellent, Ex Composito was 3rd in Open Dogs with Excellent and our Warum Nicht  - nowadays seldom seen guest in the ring – was 2nd in Champion Dogs ending up nicely BD4. Femina Floreat won Intermediate Bitches with Excellent and finished BB4 with resCC.  Extraordinaria was 3rd in Open Bitches with Excellent and my very own Liebe Lenore won Veteran Bitches with Excellent ending up BOB Veteran.

This time Ex Oriente Lux was BB4.

Ex Oriente Lux was BB2 with CC and she is now a brand new Swedish Champion! Congratulations!  

 

3.4. Korpilahti, judge Mrs Riitta Lahtovaara

Young and handsome Fortunae Filius was the only one of our dogs to be shown and didn't he do just fine! He was BOS with CC, congratulations!

On the same day in Lahti Puppy Show our little ones were practising the show business. They had a great day, Gradu Pleno was BOB Puppy and BIG-3 and sister Grata Persona BOS Puppy. Well done!

24-30.3. Holiday in Monaco :-)

Helena, Summa and little Jerry invited us, Anneli and Hanna, to spend some quality time in beautiful Monte Carlo, Monaco. After flying quite some time over cloudy Oslo we finally reached our destination in Nice. We had an awesome time doing some shopping and sightseeing until it was of course time to do some dogshows too!

On Saturday Summa Summarum entered the Monaco INT Show and did he have a great success there – he finished his Monaco Champion title and he is now the very first Sternhimmels Monaco Champion! He was BOB with CC and CACIB under Mrs Liliane de Ridder-Onghena from Belgium and he was also awarded for the Best Basenji by HRH Princesse Antoinette of Monaco herself – not bad at all Summa!

On Saturday we headed to Fréjus INT in France, judge was Mr Mattera from France. Summa did well in this show too, he won Open Dogs with resCACIB and CC.

Congratulations Helena and Summa and thank you once again for your great hospitality, we hope to see you soon!

Tampere INT, judge Mr Pierre Derouet, France

Fortunae Filius was 3rd in Junior Dogs with Excellent, Ex Composito was 4th in Open Dogs with Excellent too. In Junior Bitches Femina Floreat finished 2nd with Excellent and in Champion Bitches Ex Bona Fide was 3rd with Excellent. Liebe Lenore was 3rd in Veteran Bitches with Excellent as well.

 

13.3. Riga INT, Latvia, judge Mona K Selbach, N

Anni and Carpe Diem had a little spring break and visited Riga INT show with nice results. Aida took her 3rd CACIB and added another champion title in front of her name: she is now also Latvian Champion!

Cruft's, judge Mr Robin Searle, UK

Our friend Helena invited us to spend holiday in Birmingham and to participate in  world's biggest dog show with Summa Summarum who was qualified to Cruft's after last year's success in Windsor show. We, Anneli and Carina, packed our bags and we surely had a memorable visit in England. On Thursday it was Summa's turn to enter the ring and he finished 5th in Limit Dogs. Helena and Summa also gave an interview to BBC, though mostly it was Helena who took care of talking part and Summa did what he is best at – looking graceful and elegant and of course behaving like a real gentleman! Thank you Helena for the great opportunity to show the very first time Sternhimmels Basenji at Cruft's.

Caeli Regina was also by far the highest ranked basenji in Finnish Sighthound Club's lure coursing ranking for year 2004. She has also for the second year in a row got the highest total points in a single competition.

 

January
30.1. Turku INT, judge Dagmar Kenis-Pordham, GB

Young Fortunae Filius started the day by being second in dogs' junior class with Excellent. Ex Composito was the winner in the Open class and also BD4 with resCC.

In bitches Ex Bona Fide continued her fantastic performance and took yet another CACIB with BOS! She was followed by our other girls: Liebe Lenore was BB2 and BOB-veteran and junior Femina Floreat BB3 with CC. The day was completed with Sternhimmels breeders' group being BOB and BIS4!

 

16.1. Last one of this year's puppies left to his new home. Good luck Gaskar as well as all the others: Rosso, Brando, Jökö, Lucas, Piko, Paavo, and Vega. Thank you Nora and Vesa for taking such a good care of this litter and as well Tuija and Urpu for all the help with the puppies!

 

8.1. Kajaani INT, judge Mrs Paula Rekiranta

The show year 2005 started with celebrations! We are proud to present the 80th Finnish Champion under Sternhimmels prefix: FIN CH BaltW-04 Sternhimmels Ex Bona Fide. She took her 15th CC that made her a new champion in the first possible show. And on top of that she took also her 5th CACIB and BOB. Others did well too: Semper Felix won Champion class and was BD2 with resCACIB. Sternhimmels Ad Astra did the same in bitches. Astra was followed by Caeli Regina, who was BB3. Breeders group was BOB.

Later that night Carpe Diem participated for the first time in an official agility competition. She had a great time with handler Anni but missed one jump in the beginning and was disqualified due to that. Better luck next time! :-)
